In many ways photography in a big city is similar to photography in the countryside. In the countryside we slow down and relax and let the atmosphere take us. The more that we relax and slow down, the more details of the scene we see and can record. It is much the same in urban photography, except that the surroundings are not so conducive to relaxation. People hurrying everywhere, traffic, noise, pollution are all a part of the mix. Yet there are good shots to be had. Reflections, shadows, contrasts between old buildings and new, architectural details, the list goes on. So next time you go shopping, take the camera as well as you credit card.
