Sunset & Sunrise

Sunrise and sunset. Magic hour. It’s the time of day for photographers, when everything is bathed in a warm low light and even something as hideous as a multi-storey car-park can look nice. The sky glows with a blazing range of colours and foreground objects are reduced to silhouettes. Sunrise can be difficult, especially in mid-summer when courage is needed to set the alarm for 4am, but sunset is available to everyone. At sunset it is easy to assess the sky as the sun moves toward the horizon and decide if it is worth getting to a sunset spot or not. Sunset is a romantic and charming time of day and most people are moved by it, which is why a good sunset picture gets more praise than almost any other subject. Critics sometimes say that sunset pictures are too chocolate boxy. Let ‘em eat cake. Sunset pictures are great, emotional and fun.
