Plants & Flowers
To do justice to plants requires the use of a macro lens. The telephoto zooms that claim to be macro do not allow you to get close enough. You will also need a tripod and a lot of patience as even a tiniest breeze will move the subject enough to cause blurring. Once you are equipped you can enter a small scale world of great beauty. A great advantage of being a plant/flower photographer is that there are subjects everywhere, all you need is some greenery, a garden or, as in the case of a couple of semi-pro friends of mine, an annual pass to the RHS gardens and Kew.
